Actually the model 58 carries a higher value as there were fewer of these made than the 57.

The model 57 in nickel and with the 8 3/8" barrel carries a bit of a premium but is still less that the model 58.

Did you say NIB 58 Nickel ?

There were a couple minty ones on the auction side that went for upwords of 2K. So to answer your question, that should easily get you a 27 with 8 3/8, or even a Python.

Typically 8 3/8" barrels - which I happen to like - command a bit lower price. I think the 5" barrel on a Model 27 is one of the higher value lengths.

You may want to drop in on the S & W forum, get some values from them. You'll get alot of attention as soon as you mention the 58 for sale. I can't offer a value on the Model 58, but my guesstimate on the 27(keep in mind I'm in CA, may guess a touch high) would be about $700.00 max? I have to think a 58 covers that and much more.

Where is the S & W forum? Hope this isnt a stupid question. I just picked up a S&W 58, 4" barrel myself and would like to know more about it.
