Pre 1956 Browning 22 semi-auto take down
I have inheritied a pre 1956 Browning 22 auto takedown. There is no serial number on this gun and was wondering what it might be worth. It is in excellent condition. I do not know much about guns, but found out this much. Prior to 1956, there were not serial numbers on thises guns, correct?
Thanks

1957 is DOM, according to this site.

For a accurate appraisal your going to have to post quality photos of the rifle. As Browning .22's are pretty common, check the on-line auctions for the actual selling prices for rifles similar to yours, to get a ballpark value.0 -
Rufe-snow, thank you very much for the information. I really appreciate it. 0 -
If it is a pre-1956, it would say FN Herstal on the barrel and probably have a wheel sight. The only Browning reference would be the Browning pat# in small print on the barrel. also, side of the receiver would be plain w/o engraving. 0
