need some help on a old MARLIN 22 single shot

I purchased an old single shot marlin today and the only thing i can find on the barrel is THE MARLIN FIREARMS CORPORATION NEW HAVEN.U.S.A-PATENED 22 S.L & LR IS THERE A WAY TO TELL WHAT YEAR IT WAS MADE OR WHAT MODEL IT IS? IT HAS A BEAUTIFUL LITTLE CHECKERED STOCK.
