Remington Sportsman 58 Barrel conversion

It is a well known fact that 870 Wingmaster barrels are a direct fit on this older model Remington. Question is does anyone know the specifications for drilling the gas outlet holes in the magazine barrel ring? I have been told two different things and one is that the drill size and number of holes is critical to proper operation and varies by gauge and/or barrel length.

Can anyone help me or suggest a source for this information?

  You just see which drill bit fits in the 58 hole and you duplicate the angle and drill. I've never had one not work. hope this helps

  Use a number 31 drill at the correct angle and you'll be fine....
