New Taurus PT145 Don't Load Ammo in Chamber
I just bought a new .45 Taurus PT145 auto pistol, went to try it out, loaded up 2 clips, started shooting and about 2 or 3 times it never put a new round in the chamber, both clips. I was shooting Remington 230 grain ammo. I had to use the slide to get the chamber loaded. It was fairly cold out if that would make any difference. (about 20 something). Is this common for a new pistol to do this? This is my first experience with shooting an auto pistol. Do I just need to shoot it more? I sure hope I don't have to send it back to taurus. What do some of you think?

Get a couple hundred rounds through it - and through away the clips and use a MAGAZINE! 0 -
Could be that you are limp wristing the pistol. You need to keep your wrists firm while shooting polymer framed pistols.
Best bet would be to have a friend shoot the pistol or someone else that is familiar with polymer framed pistols.
Limp wristing can affect all semi-auto pistols. It's more severe in poly framed guns though.
Here is an exaggerated limp wristing video:

If a friend or someone else can't get through a mag. Then it's a problem with the gun. I personally don't care for Taurus products. They have a lifetime warranty to make up for their crappy products.0 -
Ok, I meant "magazine", so, could it be the "magazine" causing the problem, maybe sticking? I shot 2 magazines, the problem occured with both, sounds maybe a logical thing to me???? 0 -

I agree with Drobs, you are not holding the pistol tight enough, the slide is not going back far enough to strip a new round from the magazine. Very common problem with lightweight pistols.0 -

Its not the mags...have someone else fire the weapon and see if the situation repeats.0 -
You might also want to disassemble the magazine. Wipe everything down then leave a very light coating of oil or leave dry. Certain manufacturers are known to put grease in their magazines.
Sig Sauer mags and EAA Witness mags are known to work better after having the factory grease removed.0 -
Has your pistol- especially the rails and the disconnector- been LUBED? You did say new pistol- most are not ready to shoot right out of the box. 0 -
The first thing I do with a new gun is take it apart and clean all the goo from the factory off. I am going to take the mags apart and clean and oil them next. The weather is suppose to get above freezing the next few days, I'll try to get it out and waste some more lead and see if it works any better. 0
