I recently purchased this revolver,it is in great condition. However,it will not lock up in the DA mode, but locks up perfectly in the SA mode. Is this normal????

no this is not normal. most likely has issues with the cylinder hand or cylinder ratchet and or cylinder lock.

Thanks, seems to be a common problem with H&R revolvers. 0 -
Try this: Open the action. Cock the hammer, and look at the tip of the hand. Does it look... dented? If you attempt to close the action when the hammer is cocked (and the hand extended) the edge of the cylinder will hit the hand, and damage the tip. When you cock it single action, it gives the cylinder enough OOMPH! to make it to the locking notch- but double action does not have the same amount or spped of push. It may not be the problem with YOURS- but over the years, have seen several with same damage. If so, hand CAN be replaced, or old hand removed, and blacksmithed back to its original contour. 0 -
Thanks, Hand seems fine, but to protrude and retract seems to be a problem. Is there a spring that acuates the hand? (probably a job for a qualified gunsmith, huh.) 0 -
Yes, there is a spring that attaches to the trigger - and YES, it is a job for a qualified/good gunsmith. 0 -
I really appreciate your input.Thanks,John. 0
