Rem 760 vs 7600?

a close friend loves deer hunting but has a significant hereditary tremor that really hinders accurate shooting. he was recently loaned a remington pump for one day of the season and found it much easier to use than his bolt action--working the safety and reloading without much movement of his shaky hands. also the weight helps a bit. he asked me to search for one for him.

i'm not a big pump fan but this is an unusual situation. he only uses it for a week of deer season and sighting in each year, that's all, when hunting mountain forests in PA

i notice a big price difference between 760's and the newer 7600's. is there really any difference in quality or features?

    The 7600 is the updated version of the 760. It has four locking lugs like the Model Six pump, amd model Four Semi-auto did. I am sure you can find a good 760 for a bit less than a 7600, but most 760 are well used. Also, if it does not have a scope mount on it already, you will be hard pressed to find the mounts for the 760. The newer 7600, and 7400 series use different spacing and bigger screws than the 740, 742, and 760's.

    There are several on the auction side of both the 7600, and the 760. The 760's are averaging around $300.00

    thanks. the general price difference seems to run around $200 and my friend has very limited funds. if i find a 760 I'll have to be sure it has mounts with it tho

    760 and 742 weaver scope bases are still common and easy to find and are only around $8.00 each. They use a one piece base so you will only need one.

    they usually run $350-500 here in WV, for the common 30-06 or 270 with scope. depends on how many cosmetic blemishes you want.

    There is a lot of good 760's out there most have only been shot a couple times before season to sight in. The 30-06 is the most common and cheapest.

    I bought a Rem 760 in 300 Savage. Very little use almost like new, paid $350. Absolutely love it and the 300 Savage doesn't give much away to the 308 Win.

    You will pay a premium for a 760 in Pa.(very popular there) You my want to look for one in the southwest or on GB. Prices tend to be lower than in Pa. 5mmgunguy you got a fantastic deal.

    I have 760 in .30-06 myself.Not been shot alot.Ive considered listing it here more than once.But Ive never sold here before.
