asa-vn,
Reading is essential to being able to perform some tasks...

After saving the picture, and slightly enlarging it, what you have is a modified barrel, meaning that someone has added a piece between just above the magazine tube end, to just about a foot from the muzzle end of the gun. If I had a better picture of those areas, I could blow them up and show you the vertical lines where the joints were made. If you do take pictures, use the MACRO function on your camera, and zoom in on those specific area's.

Holy mackeral, that is one long pipe on that '97.
There does appear to be a off-color band in the barrel, right where the magazine tube ends. It looks like a section of barrel was added on there.
BertH really needs to see THIS doggie.0 -
I have seen it and proclaimed it not factory original. Not much else to say. 0 -
We see old single barrel and pump shotguns with those long "added onto" barrels all the time around here. Some of the Turkey Shoots will no longer allow them in the shooting matches as all of the other Shooters will leave if the gun is allowed to be used. It takes out all of the fun of the matches, when a gun's barrel can almost touch the target on every round of shooting![:0] A fellow brought one to the Gun Show in Knoxville once and I swear that you could have plumbed a house with it![:D] 0 -
How good does it shoot... 0 -
That's a crow gun you have. Up here crow hunters were shooting
around developments that were springing up near corn fields. So the
homeowners were complaining about the noise and gun fear. So the
hunters came up with welding 5' barrel lengths onto their guns and
made the report very quiet. The longer the barrel the quieter it
became. Some would weld multiple barrels together, and they would
only make a poof noise.0 -
Thanks to all responding..I still do NOT see any evidence of barrel being modified by sleeving,welding,soldering..Not to worry,I was curious about the unusually long barrel..I have not shot yet to see pattern, and will have barrel magna-fluxed to see if it is one piece..Betcha it is!![:)] 0 -
I will take that bet[}:)][;)] 0
