AS they say yours is "PAR FOR THE COURSE" in my opinion the GSG model is MUCH better.

Hate to rub it in, but it's manufactured from pot metal, ( Zinc diecastings ), can't expect much from something like that.

The least expensive, descent, US made .22 pistol, is the S & W Model 22A . It is head and shoulders above the POS Chiappa quality wise, from my personal experience. IMHO you would be better off getting rid of the Chiappa and picking up a 22A.

I have read some reviews on these guns and on the Chiappa it said you get one that either works or it don't.....Hind Sight....It was there , it was new in the box, and the dealer said he had several in the field with no problems! Later I came to the conclusion that those other guns were not being used....

    +1.

*For the money* the 22A is a surprisingly good gun. The "A" in .22A is for "alloy"; this uses an aluminum alloy frame and slide, but its still a lot better than zinc-alloy "pot metal".

If you want something like a 1911 to train with, you've got a few options (depending on your budget).

-Get a .22 conversion unit to plop on top of your actual 1911. Best thing about this is that since the conversion unit isn't a "gun" you can have it mailed directly to your house with no paperwork.

-Ruger 22/45 costs about $250 brand new in the box, including a nice bull barrel variant. The gun is time tested, being based on the Mark II action and should run great.

-If you've got a little more money, you can spring for one of the older military grip High Standard .22s.

[?]Has anyone had as much of a problem with this Chiappa 1911-22 as I have? Stove piping, miss-fires, trigger pull, etc. I've tried 15 different types of ammo with no real results, miss-fires at anytime.....It's like you can almost feel when its going to miss-fire by the trigger pull as if its not completly in battery. I intended to use it for in-door practice this winter, but I am embarrassed to take it to the range......I did return it to Chiappa, HELP!!!

My experience as well. I've owned it a year now. Works best w CCI mini mags and Rem-oil teflon on the inner slide. But still not reliable. Sheesh, what a RIPP=OFF!

Earlier post I made about the GSG 1911 from germany.

Shot it over the weekend 7 mags with seven (I think it will hold more)
5 different people shot a mag and I shot it 2 times.. Smooth as silk out of the box.. no malfunctions.
A little different to take apart to clean but no problem

Boughjt the other on that they had .. I feel it will really be an excellent plinker.

What are they bringing around the country? I Paid 300 plus tax.

[:)][:(][;)]I was wondering about how the GSG functioned??? Sounds like a nice piece!! I have not heard anything on my chappa yet !@#$%^&*()_+ I hope they send me a new gun... We will see!!! I did'nt buy that pistol to shoot $6. $7. $8. dollar a box ammo. ( I tried CCI and a few other high dollar rounds and it made no differance) I've always used the federal lightnings at a $1.77 a box. Anyway, glad to hear your GSG is working good. Hows the trigger pull?? I"m not sure what the GSG prices are at this time around here, (USA WIS) Probably $300. plus.........I do know .22 shells are cheaper than gas!!!!!
