Remington 740 stocks
Wondering if the Remington model 7400 stocks fit a model 740? RamLine has nice carbon stocks for a 7400/740, but there is an asterisk next to the product tha says"models manufactured after 1975." My 740 was manufactured in 1955! Will this stock work? Are there any differences in the stocks?

Yeah, I looked at the remington link first. Same thing. They have a model 7400 stock-not a 740. Will this fit my 740? 0 -

Does that mean that the ramline 7400 stock will fit the 740 as well? 0 -
Ram-Line stocks sets are made for the Remington M-7400, 742 Model* 4 and Model 750 Ram-Line stocks will fit most of these models.
Will work for the M-742 made after 1975 only. Serial numbers after A 500,000. Must have Letter before serial number to fit properly..
Not made for the Model 740, or Early Model 742 prior to 1975.
Remington made a design change in the action bars around 1975. Went from a thicker, wider bar to a nore narow profile bar. The Current forearms will not fit the older models with the wider action bars.
