HK G3 A3 Value

Got a possible trade for some things, and I have been offered a HK G3 A3.

Frankly, I know nothing about this firearm, and was hoping someone out there might be able to educate me about it.

I was sent a pic, and have it attached.

    Make darn sure it's the real deal, original made in Germany HK. Not some look alike put together over here with a U.S. made receiver and enough U.S. made parts to keep the feds happy. Tell the guy who's fixing to trade it that you want a close up sharp photo of all the markings on the receiver. That way there will be no possible misunderstanding.

    Is it made by HK or by FMP in Portugal? What are the actual markings on the rifle? It has the push button magazine release found on the semi autos but it looks like someone has added the flap release from the military G3 as a G3 three position trigger assembly. The photo is just blurry enough to lack the detail needed to tell you much about the rifle.

    I can't tell much at all from the pic.

    But an HK G3 will bring about $11,000 in todays market.

    Hoping to get more pics as soon as possible. Will post them as they come. From my understanding, this is the original G3. Will post ASAP, and thanks again.

    A semi auto HK rifle will have a trigger group that looks like this:

    This is what it commonly called a clip-on because it literally clips onto the receiver.

    A G3 rifle will have what is known as a swing down trigger group which is secured to teh receiver by a pin:

    With a very limited number of exceptions for rifles imported in the early 1960s, the presence of a swing down trigger group indicates the rifle's receiver is a machine gun, whether or not the trigger group contains any full automatic parts or if the bolt is slotted.

    If the rifle (which is clearly a late model) has the swing down trigger group and has not been registered as a machine gun there is a serious problem.
