Marlin 336 Lever Action - technical question

I have a Marlin 336 lever action that when fired the lever will spring open, and not remain closed as it is supposed to.

Has anyone experienced this problem with this model before, and might suggest a possible remedy to correct the problem?

  the finger lever spring could be weak.

  Lever spring is weak as 260 said. Had the same problem
