Winchester double proof marks
Hello
I am interested if factory replacement barrels with the double proof marks ( W P inside Oval & P inside Oval ) in any way devalue m-12s, m-50s or 42s collectability and/or worth ?
Thank you
Joe

Hello Joe,
The quick answer is Yes, both the collectability and value are significantly diminished by a mail order replacement barrel, and not just for the Models you mentioned. All barrels marked with (P) proof mark were purchased and installed by outside (non-factory) entities.0 -
I appreciate your reply Bert.
Just to give you an idea of my dilema, I located a m 50 20 ga WS 1, round post vent rib barrel is correct for the vintage and has the proper 3 diamond forearm and grip cap wood. Gun is about 96-97 % w/original blueing and finish. Funtions as new.
Any idea what the appox. value would be including the double proof marks on the barrel ?
Thank you

Hello Joe,
No, I do not have an idea what it is actually worth, but a good starting point would be 50% of what an otherwise identical factory original would be worth. I personally know very little about the Winchester Model 50.0
