unknown johnson rifle part
I need the experts opinion on this, i bought it at a show think it was for the 1941 johnson rifle but now i see it does not march up to any picturs i see of those rifles. Any ideas as to what it is??. measures 3 inches long by just over 1 1/2 wide and 1 11/2 inches tall. [img][/img]

This is a shot in the dark (as no replies thus far)..if the vendor mentioned 'Johnson', perhaps he was making mention of one of the Johnson LMG's?

Do some searching under pre-war CZ semi-auto rifle designs. I believe what you may have is the front aluminum hand guard and furniture retention collar from a ZB series rifle. The only country I remember that took military delivery of these guns was Ethiopia. Very advanced design for it's time...looks a little like a Ljungmann with a funny hand guard. Shot in the dark, but you never know?! Just looked at a picture of one and it looks about right. They should be a;luminum, I think, and make up the top and bottom half of the forend heat dissapation shield? 0
