Tangent site Hi Power
I posted a topic about a week ago regarding a HiPower I am looking at at a local shop. I was finally able to get by again and it is a "T" series, Belgium made pistol. Condition is greater that 95%, but not quite 98%.
I do collect a wide variety of items and this one is in my never-ending-list. Included with the pistol is a Browning soft case (pouch) and a correct magazine. I can own the pistol for the sum of $700.00. He actually has two in the shop, but the second is at 98% and has a Browning soft case included as well. I could own them both for $1,300.00.
Decisions...... decisions. I think it would be a wise investment to get the T series over the C series, just because they seem to be sought after whereas the C series is not, at least not sought after as much.
Anyway, just looking for suggestions now that I have provided better 'specifics' than in my previous post.
EDIT:
I can get the T model with tax included for $700.00 out the door. I may just get myself a present tomorrow a few days early.....
Thanks Rufe-Snow
OK, I went by the gun shop on Wednesday and both the C and T series Hi Powers were still there. When I went by on Thursday afternoon, the T series was sold about an hour before I got there. I had planned on picking them both up, but I guess you snooze, you loose. I have included some pictures and am happy with the purchase. Anything that looks like a mark, is actually lint. There is no blemishes or scratches on this gun. It would honestly rate at 98 -99%, missing only the box.
EDIT #2:
Perry-Shooter Rufe-Snow, I'm not sure what you meant by photoshopped or the slide stop question, but I have included an additional photo of the serial number. It' the last photo below. Also, I have a new camera and have not figured out how to use it the best. I do realize the pictures are not as good as could be desired. I'll work with it and get better as I use it.
EDIT #3:
I can assure you that I have not photoshopped any of these pictures. The pictures below are for sure my gun. I've been on this site for maybe four years (?) and have never been questioned on any transaction or details I have mentioned in the forums.
I did not take it personal, but wanted to at least provide a response.
Have a great day all.

No screaming deal as far as I can see. But if you got the money go for it, ( as far as the "T" model is concerned, I don't see buying both of them). Things are real tough now for lots of folks, not likely it will be a fast mover. Ask him if cash will make any difference as far as as sales tax or a discount is concerned, all he can say is no. 0 -
Question about the slide stop? Don't know if it's because of the angle that the camera was held on, when the photo was taken? Or when the serial number on the frame was photoshopped?( No sense photoshoping the frame SN if the number is on the white tag though). But it seems to be protruding a greater then normal amount from right side of the frame. 0 -
That's a very nice Hi-Power; enjoy it!
From what I see the soft case and the manual are both the correct versions for a Hi-Power of that vintage and probably originally came with that gun. I assume the store written serial number on the white label matches your gun.
I've bought several new "T" series Hi-Powers from stores back in the late 60's and I've never seen the box they were shipped from Browning in; only the soft case and manual accompanied the guns. So, I'm not sure if they were bulk shipped in their soft cases with protection around them; or in their soft cases in individual boxes inside a shipping container.0 -
Nice HP. I would say that the pouch and the manual are exactly right for that pistol. The earlier T-Series pouches did not have the white tag and the instruction manual was the narrow type:

It is interesting to compare the roll stamping on the commercial pistols officially imported by Browning USA with those which were brought in under the radar and bear only FN markings:

SWEET It is a shame you did not get Both but you have a great Piece . Do they come cut for shoulder stock ? You might need to hold with both hands to hit a small target when you put sights to 500 meters LOL . I have a Trio of stocked pistols Broom-handle, Hi-Power and Luger . I don't think they are long range firearms At least not in my hand but will at least give the user better moral. 0 -
I'm the one who made the comment about "photoshoping". This is a term used by computer folks regarding the altering/editing of pictures after they have been taken. These changes to the pictures are done with a famous computer software program called photoshop.
The reason I thought your photos were photoshopped, were that in your photos of the frame of the High Power it almost appears that their was a serial number just to the rear of the slide stop pin that has been removed. It's most visible in photo #4.0
