I read it that he was asking about the cartridge counter 1899/99 and when production stopped. Production of the cartridge counter models stopped at the end of 1984. A box magazine moddl was produced in 1985, the last year of the 99. The brass cartridge counter models are more desired than the box magazine, but as with other things, condition and utility are the key words in creating value. .300 Savage is the most common caliber and still a fine one, exceeding the .30-30 ballisticly, and the .250-3000 (.250 Savage) is highly desired as is the .243. The .303 Savage less so, being obsolete and essentially out of production.

So, two answers for the price of none and all you have to do is find them.

Thanks Dog. For whatever reason I thought they quit with the cartridge counter post WWI. I have never collected the 1899/99's as finances dictated I collect a few old 23's (all gone but the Hornet)and all of the 340 variants...truck guns for a truck kind of guy! Never understand why people don't just buy brass, dies and roll their own. I still occasionally shoot the 401WSL, 6.5 x 58 Portuguese-Verguiero, 9 x 23 Steyr, 225 Winchester, 7.65 Mauser and others. Not a lot of that group lieing about on many gun store shelves, as is the case with 303 Savage. Not sure how lack of commercial availability makes people give up so easily! Cowards!

Found my answers in there no problem, BTW...thanks as always![:D]
