Proper Ammunition

I bought a Smith and Wesson SD9. It does not mention in any documents that I can find that it can or can not handle +P rounds. The gun is marketed as a Self Defense gun which I would assume could handle Self Defense rounds. I bought Winchester Supreme Elite 9mm Luger +P Self Defense rounds. Can my gun handle this? Please enlighten a new gun owner.

  I would contact Smith & Wesson for clarification. Chances are, it will perform flawlessly, but one would hate to be injured or void their warranty by making a poor decision.
