Mystery Arisaka type help
Hello could someone please tell me who made this rifle I need a bolt. Thanks Karl edit hello babum the fourth picture down shows sort of a 45 degree angle of the top and right side of the receiver There are absolutely no marks at all on the receiver and I am 100 % convinced it is original finish nothing has been ground off It does have slot cut for stripper clip and the top of the rear receiver ring is open on top about 3/8 inch wide from front to back. "rufe-snowThanks for additional information. Would this rifle be called an Arisaka or Japanese Carcano[?]. If I was to go on the wanted side for a BOLT what would I ask for or do you know site that may sell parts for this rifle[?]?first picture is all the parts I have
The small C shaped part is a stock insert where the front hand-guard joins the stock.
This is the only serial number and no other proof or inspector marks Note also no cut out for dust cover and no bolt release on left side of action
Note right side of trigger housing has a bar that goes up into the right hand bolt locking lug groove this allows the bolt if I had one to be removed by pulling back on the trigger and pulling back on the bolt
Note the stock insert that matches up with recoil lug on front receiver ring
note the removal of wood long front to back groove
to make stock lighter and front u shaped to match C shaped insert that will support barrel
more cuts to to remove weight and metal insert to hold spring bar that hold s the bayonet front barrel band
Thanks Guys if you need other pictures I can send a personal emailThanks Hawk great information

That thing has some features like a Carcano??? Could I see the top of the action? Bob 0 -
With just the serial number and no other markings, it looks like a Type I to me. They were Italian made contract rifles, made for the Japanese military during the late 1930's.
Edit #1, Karl, far as I know the Italian Type I's were one of a kind types. Although I'm not absolutely sure, doubtful that the bolts from Italian Carcano's will fit and function. Numbers of them manufactured weren't great as compared to other W W II military rifle production, and fewer still available in the U.S., 65 years after the war.0 -
Sure looks like a Type I to me.
