Shooters Ridge rifle rest
I was looking to get a Caldwell rest but see that the cheapest model with windage adjustment is around $175. Came across the Shooters Ridge brand with elevation, windage, and tray for counterweights. WalMart (as much as I don't like shopping there) will ship to me for $80 +tax. Anybody have experience with this particular rest?

Yes, I have been using that model for about four years. With a couple of bags of shot to hald it down. I did make a new & different sandbag for the front. Just was not happy with the one it came with. YMMV. There better rests but cost several hundred dollars. 0 -
I bought one a few years ago and took it right out to the range. I promptly broke the hard rubber vintage buttplate on my hunting rifle. Took a bit of reading but I finally found the warning in the directions. Still made me angry so it went back and I just use a front bag and some sandbags to shoot with to this day.-Mike 0 -
I bought a Lead Sled on sale for $79.99, rigged it with a set of $1.99 straps, and use my snow chains as weight [:p] ...
... and it works for me. The only thing is that, it's hard for me to find the most comfortable stance and it changes my LOP. It comes very handy during load development though. However, once the load is fine tuned, I go back to my good old bags set up.
Caution: Do not use excessive weight in hope to eliminate recoil, just enough weight to reduce the recoil. Something will have to give ... and most likely it is going to be a part of the rifle. The most common complaints I've heard is cracked stock.
