Gentlemen, I have a mod. 54 Win. 30-o6, that is a 96% gun. The ser.No. is 456--. Can anyone tell me when it was made and how much it is worth? Also, I need a reciever sight for this gun. Help!! 0 -
Looks to me as if it had a number of holes SIDES and TOP of Receiver AFTER it left the factory. [:(] 0 -
Yep, its been drilled on the top and side. Heres what it should look like. IMO the barrel is probably worth $500. Stocks been carved out for sight, and reciever destroyed.

When the 22 Hornet was originally introduced in the early 1930s, it was .223. The question was concerning an early 1930s vintage Winchester Model 54. The modern 22 Hornet is .224.0 -
Bert did it change to 224 with the first model 70 or was it awhile into production 0 -
Hmmm....my memory must be going south on me. I didn't think any of the pre-war M-70 (the ones with a striper bridge) were factory drilled for reciever sights. 0 -

This is not a Model 70... instead, it is a Model 54.0 -

I do not know what bore diameter was for the the pre-war II Model 70 22 Hornets, but I suspect it was .223.0
