mossberg model 51 m. 22 lr
My father recently aquired this rifle from his cousin, who received it as a young boy. He was wondering if I could find the worth of this weapon. I assume someone already knows the specifics on it, like the buttstock loading, rear sivel peepsight, 15 round tubular magazine, etc. If anyone has any more information, it would be greatly appreciated... Feel free to email me at fochs15@gmail.com

Mossberg .22's have been made in great quantity since the 30's. Even in excellent condition used ones don't bring in a lot of money. Check out the two large net gun auctions for ball-park approximate values. Even if you don't find your specific model, you will get a feel for what the fair market values generally are for Mossbergs. Don't pay any attention to the ridiculous asking prices some of the misguided fools are asking for their treasures, but the actual selling price at the end of the auction. 0 -
The m models usually bring in more than some of the others.. Search auction side and see what they sell for. My guess is the bottom figure would be around 150. While the guns were made in great numbers after 60 some years they are not all equal either... Many collector grade guns do sell for a good amount of money.
But go do a smart search auction side and see what you come up with.

Click on that, and scroll down to 51M. They did not make a LOT of those, due to the war. Value of any gun depends on condition and originality. Without seeing yours, would guess $125-$225, if it has the original peep sight, extended wood, etc. There is a small but dedicated following of Mossberg collectors, but they are not high dollar guns. Great shooters, tho.0
