thompson encore ??
I have a 26 1/2 in barrel, a 50cal muzzle loader. it has a 24 1/2 in ram rod when I put the rod back under the barrel after loading the rod sticks out about 3/4 of an in past the end of the barrel. is this normal. I pulled the forearm to see if there was a blockage and found that the rod was going in as far as it could. its hitting the base of the barrel where it pins on the frame. is this the correct ramrod?

does it have the swivel type handle on the end of the rod? If so, it will stick out past the end. Mine does. 0 -
no, it is a straight rod with about a 2in ribbed(knurled) end. 0 -
Mine has a swivel "T" handle that sticks past the end of the barrel. It doesnt hinder the gun shooting. 0 -

Sounds like to me, that you have a mis-matched ramrod. I have several Encore's, and have a standard 50 caliber, and a Super 45, and they are the same. TC even made one of their super rods with the swivel t-handle that fits them.

I have an Encore too it sounds like the brass end it still screwed to the ram rod. I leave mine like that all the time and shoot it that way. It makes it easier to seat a reload in the field if the rod and seater are all one piece. 0 -
that is what you get in a "factory" made M.L., [}:)] my custom made, by myself, .54 cal. Hawken M.L.'s ramrod sits a half inch back from the muzzle, with 100 gr. FFg black powder and ball, the ramrod sticks out about 2 inches 0 -
