Is this an Enfield? What type?
I'm sure this is some sort of Enfield but I don't know exactly what it is. Any help would be appreciated. Happy Holidays!
What is it?
Who made it?
Where was it made?
When was it made?
Value? Just looking for a comfortable starting point for GB.

Howdy jc,
Yes, cut-stock sporterized, so value is now but a shooter, say $100 bucker, maybe, if it shoots straight. No collector worth. Date and model are marked, cannot see manufuacture marking.
Try this link, also: http://home.earthlink.net/~smithkaia8/
EDIT The snipercentral shows the "T" model which is just that-- a souped-up sniper version. Yours originally never had a cheekrest or drilled for scope mounting.

Thanks! I guess my next question would be, why doesn't the forend extend all the way out like the one you linked? And! Is it missing a scope and cheek rest or is the link you showed me just a souped up version of one? Thanks so much!!!! 0 -

Stock has been cut.. Many militray rifles after service were sportized by civilians.0 -
As said- Enfield Mk 4 rifle of His Majesty's Forces, WWII- and whoever chopped it up into a civilian sporter killed the collector's value. Link here for more info: http://www.surplusrifle.com/no4/index.asp 0 -
enfield No4's were in great supply after ww2. most of the shooters you see here are longbranch guns. made or refurbed in longbranch canada. the enfield bolt action is one of the best ever made. (imo)
in the 60's a couple us outfits "sporterized" the no 4's and offered them as hunting rifles.
most common here are the 1943-45 No 4 Mk 1* guns.
until the .303 milsurp ammo dried up, the sporterized guns were fairly popular with hunters.
better ballistics than the 30-30 and half the price.
yours is a rearsenalled parts gun with the older volley sight.
still a great shooter!
