22 semi auto/single shot
Does anyone recall if there was ever manufactured a 22cal. rifle that ejected the fired round like a normal semi auto but then the bolt stayed open for single hand loading? No magazine at all.

Yes I think it was a Winchester design but I'm not sure on model number. 0 -
Yes, it's a Winchester 55, but for some reason I thought there was another. 0 -
H&R made them also, a model 765 and 755 "Sahara" and I have both of them. The 765 is more a youth model and the Sahara has two piece stock that goes out to the end of the barrel, looks like a military gun. 0 -
Weatherby XXII has a selector that will allow for single shots. 0 -
+1 on the Weatherby MKII semi auto, can be fired single shot or semi auto 0 -
Yes, my youngest son had a H&R Sahara. 0 -
I have an old Savage 22 autoloader that will only fire one round at a time if you push in on the loading lever before firing. This prevents the action from cycling. Another feature is in autoloader mode, the bolt will stay open until you release the trigger after firing; Release the trigger and the bolt releases, cocking the action and chambering the next round. 0 -
Thanks people, I looked the model Win 55/.22 cal up and that is it. Semi-auto rifles are not permitted for hunting in my area. I recall as a boy my friend had this rifle and every time we got checked by the wildlife commission he would get a through look over with his rifle, that was many years ago. It seems like a good idea, guess it did not catch on. 0
