Of the two - if I was not to use 3?" shells - I'd choose the Montefeltro.
Sure, the Super Black Eagle will cover all your bases by being able to take 3?", but all the Super Black Eagle is, is a slightly longer version of the exact same Inertia-system.
Plus the Super Black Eagle has recoilspring, the spring in the bolt-head and one more - which is slightly more tough, so the Super Black Eagle is aimed specifically at huntingloads and heavy 3?" shells.
Super Black Eagle will shoot trap/skeet loads - at least, mine did.
But it was very very close to not cycling the lightest loads.
Montefeltro will shoot trap/skeet(light) and all magnum-loads without a hitch.
I loved my Benelli SBE, and it did wonderfully at hunting - it was good at the range, and it was a breeze to clean afterwards.
(Benelli's are so simple... you will hate to go "back" to lesser systems)
But rarely used 3?" shells, so I could make do with the M3 Super 90, which I'm looking at right now.
Buy only as "big" as you need. Don't need 3?"... Montefeltro will do perfectly.0 -
I have a SBE, several Super 90's and a Legacy. I like them all. If you dont need to shoot 3 1/2" shells, then other models might suit you.
I use my SBE a lot hunting doves and ducks and it is easy to shoot, never jams, and has never broke any parts. I only use 3 1/2" for geese.0
