Older Browning BAR..
I bought an older Browning BAR .338WM and took it out to shoot today and it shot nice starting out. I was trying to sight in the rifle so about a box(20rds) or so and it started getting harder and harder to open the action after a round was chambered. I'm thinking that something must be binding the locking lugs as the bolt is starting to lock into the barrel. Now I have to open the action using a soft hammer to the cocking handle.
My question is how does the bolt come out of the action. I have removed the rear stock and would like to remove the bolt but dont know how. Is the small pin near the rear of the piece need to be punched out or what? Please help. Thanks for your time.

Sounds like the rounds you were shooting may have been to hot for the rife or a chamber problem. I would not mess with the rifle and take the rifle to a gunsmith and have him take a look at it! What caliber is marked on the barrel of the rifle?

The rifle is chambered for the 338 win maq and I was shooting factory Remington loads in it. Im gonna take it to my gunsmith cause I cant see what the problem is...gonna be a simple thing Im sure. 0 -
" Im gonna take it to my gunsmith cause I cant see what the problem is...gonna be a simple thing Im sure.'.........good idea, the gas system may be fouled. to take the bolt out you have to start at the forend and work your way back. if you don't know......don't. 0
