Excellent photo! The way your shadowless indirect lighting shows fine detail is nearly perfect. The photo is a little on the large size though. On my computer you have to scroll the screen horizontally to see the whole revolver. This would likely likely cause the folks with dial-up connections great problems. Try posting one or two sizes smaller to see if the photo will just fit on the screen without scrolling.

EDIT #1, I would also try to get a tight close-up on the revolver. To me, too much of the blue background is showing. Using your photo editing software crop the photo so that there is no more then one inch of the background is showing, if possible.

EDIT #2, Your photographing of what appears to be a nickel or silver plated finish is also first rate. I've had a lot of aggravation in the past taking photos of guns and bayonets with this type of finish. Tenting everything but the camera lens was the only solution I could come up with, to prevent a ugly black blob showing in the center of a nickel plated pistol.

I use Photobucket for hosting my photos and they have a couple preset sizes I typically use.

    Large (640X480)

    IMG_1064.jpg

    or

    15" Screen (800X600)

    IMG_2737-1.jpg

Anything much larger than that and people start complaining about how big the pics are.

    BTW, very nice pistol[8D]

Nice pistol. I like the 800x600 size. It is as large as my screen can show without scrolling sideways.

Thanks Guys This is going to be a try at 800x600 That is what I was looking for . I have put off trying to post pictures on the forum side and never could get the hang of it Had snow to day and told myself I should have enough brain cells to do this. I might have gotten the lighting down but now I have to learn how to Crop pictures this is one at 800X600 and one at 640X480 Pictures are poor quality just checking size.

For some reason your photos aren't visible?

EDIT #1, Your first photo, ( the larger one ), is the best, although the one of the plated/engraved SA in your first post shows much greater detail.

Finally we're going to get to see some of Karl's stash!

    Best, Joe

    EDIT
In order to make this a legal ATE reply, I guess I'll have to post
something worthwhile to the subject of this string..
    so here's a tip:

After you insert a photo, double tap the return key.
It will stack photos vertically, and will create
a nice border between shots. Best again, Joe

This is the size I use. It shows pretty good detail. That size on your SAA is too big, it uses a boatload of bandwidth and takes forever to load.

When I post pictures, I pull them from Hunt101.
When viewing my picture, they have several sizes
to choose from. Typically, I go with medium,
which is the second picture below
