Little to no collector value for the Universal made Carbines, 300 in good condition, 350 if it is in great condition, 400 if you can find a sucker 0 -
The price was right , it was a give me from a family member 0 -
They don't use G.I. parts so if you break it shooting it will be difficult to find parts. 0 -
If it's anything like an actual military surplus M1 carbine, whtever you do, don't shoot steel cased ammo through it. Reason being the steel cased ammo is really hard on the extractors. At least it is on the military surplus M1 carbines.
I had to replace the extractor on one back in 2005 for a customer and while i was at it I tuned up the trigger on it. But the reaso his extractor went out was because he was shooting the cheap steel cased ammo from wolf and others through it.0 -
Early Universals used all GI parts. As producton continued, modifications were made to use fewer and fewer GI parts because surplus parts were drying up. The later models still used a few GI parts.
Steel cased ammunition is fine for most guns, including carbines. The steel cased ammunition is very soft, and accelerated wear is not a real concern.0 -
My Dad left me a universal 30 cal carbine "enforcer" model bult in the early 1960's and a good friend left me a Universal M-1 clone produced about the time. Almost everyone told me they were junk but I have never had a problem with them. Both use GI mags. I would guess that you have a good shooter. 0 -
