Looks like 98 Mauser. Great piece of wood in stock . Weaver scope . Without detailed pictures up close and in focus we cant really tell the quality of stock work. Looks to be in the style of late 1950's early 1960's . Would make a great hunting rifle. see if you can find a gunsmiths name any where.

C.E. Bryant is the name on the barrel, Seen this name in a late 50's sporting magazine when I googled it

Looks like a commercial '98 Mauser action - no cliploading thumb notch on the left rail. Maybe an FN, maybe a Yugo Mk X.
A very handsome rifle, not your usual bubbasmith product.
    Never heard of Mr Bryant.

The push button floor plate release, the safety operating on the left side of the bolt shroud, and the checkered flat bottom on the bolt knob are features of the FN action.

Looks like a 60s era Weaver steel case scope, with the stock French Style checkering,,[:)], nice wood....that would be a nice rifle to own.

Is C.E. Bryant maybe connected to Mike Bryant up in the Texas panhandle? Maybe his dad or something? Mike does some real nice work and apparently C.E. did too. That is a fine looking rifle.

I talked to Mike Bryant, C.E. is a gunsmith from the 50's , not sure what area he was out of. If my buddy sells the rifle I would really like to own it, have to see what he prices it at, looks like they start about $300 and go up ...Roy

The 1956 Gun Digest lists a C. E. Bryant, Gunsmith, in Charleston, WV.

Pick a number you feel comfortable with and make the deal. At $300.00 I would put boot tracks on your back getting to it. That is a sweet rifle even if just sitting.
