AR gas block problem
I recently put a gas block on my rifle and Im having some problems. I have made my semiauto AR into a single shot.
1)Could this happen if the gas ports in the block and the barrel dont match up?
2)Could this happen if the roll pin in the gas block was not properly installed?

You either have the gas block port not matched with the barrel port or you may have the gas tube in upside down. I would maybe first check the gas tube to make sure the gas port is down and not up.
Oh, maybe you did not get the gas tube in far enough for the pin to go through the holes for the pin.0 -
The gas tube has the right profile. That is to say the it slopes upward as it goes in the hole in the receiver above the barrel.
And the gas tube roll pin is installed with light showing through.0 -
I recently ran into the same problem with one of the rifles I converted to a free floating barrel. I found that the original grip front retainer is about 1/16th" in thickness. When I slid the new gas block on to the barrel, I went all the way up to the stop shoulder and this misaligned the gas ports. Loosened and slid the block back a 1/16" and problem solved. Hope this is of some help to you. 0 -
Take some careful measurements on the gas port locations in the block and in the barrel and reassemble carefully.
Say the gas port hole in the block is 1/2" from the block's rear surface. You scribe a thin, faint mark on the barrel 1/2" to the rear of the barrel port and assemble to that line. Use a level on the block before tightening up.
Also you want the gas tube to center in the Bolt Carrier Key hole.
It's not enough that the gas tube passes through the centering hole in the receiver.
These tubes are soft and can be shaped/reshaped.0
