winchester rifle
I am looking at a rifle that is part of a limited series offered by Davidson's. It is rolled mark to be a 45-90 black powder . Is this truly black powder only or could one use smokeless powder. The barrel seems as heavy as one they have that was stamped as a 45-70.

ABOUT 30 YEARS AGO WINCHESTER MADE A SPECIAL ADDITION RIFLE FOR THE ECHLIN MANUFACTURING CO. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW TO FIND ONE?

Just type in Winchester Napa, or call ralph.

Theoretically, you could keep browsing the Gunbroker online auction, but "special editions" are not often listed.
Or, you could contact NAPA Echlin or Standard Motor Products directly, & the person reading your email/phone call might be willing to put a request in the company newsletter.

Is their some way to post a search for a Winchester commemerative rifle made for NAPA or Echlin Corp. in the late 1970's?
One thing I will point out... the Winchester in question is not a true "commemorative" nor did it leave the New Haven factory in its final configuration. Instead, it is a commissioned "special" or "limited" edition that was reworked by a second party to the specifications requested by NAPA or the Echlin Corp.0 -
What Bert H. said.
Desireability usually runs in three descending orders:
1. Block of rifles made into a commemorative condition by the manufacturer. In this case, distinctive SerNo's can be found, and the rifles are within the normal chains of purchase through distributorship.
2. Block of rifles made into a commemorative condition by the manufacturer, but was not the manufacturer's issue. Consider it a special order run, made to 2nd party configuration requirements. In this case, distinctive SerNo's can be found.
3. Rifle not made into any special commemorative condition by the manufacturer. Left the factory as an assembly-line product, and made into a commemorative condition by a third party, totally divorced from the manufacturer. These firearms most always have SerNo's within normal production parameters. Best, Joe0 -
