P38 firing pin, part two.
Got another FP from RTG parts.
Tried to install it, still too short. I'm utterly stumped at this point. The pistol is clearly a postwar, alloy framed P38, high polished blue finish. Sadly, I cannot seem to find out why this slide will not allow the FP to move forward far enough to engage.
Just don't get it.

AT this point I think you need to take the pistol and both pins to a Gunsmith that is versed on WW II pistols. 0 -
What is the Proof Date and the other German Proof Marks/markings on the pistol? There is always the remote possibility that for some reason it's not the standard post W W II P 38. They altered the military P 38's & P 1's in the early 70's to strengthen the frame. It's possible if you have a early or late? Commercial rather then military contract P 1/P 38 it has a non standard slide. The Proof Marks will give us a indication of DOM and might clear up this enigma? 0
