    Barrel manfactures mark the chamber end of the barrel, these marks are machined off when the blank is faced & chambered.
    Any markings you see on a new barrel are put there by the gunsmith that did the instalation
    IOW good luck finding out who made the barrel itself

    well as only remington and smith corona made the "03a3" and I have seen the "rep" mark on remington barrels so best guess would be a original rem. barrel.

    USGI barrels for the 03A3 are marked behind the front sight; but markings may have been removed during the bubba-izing:

    REP on a Remington barrel used to be an abbreviation for Remington English Proof. Don't know about the numeral.

    R.E.P is a Remington Proof Mark
    I do not believe the *E* stands for
    England.
