Have just acquired 1873 Winchester rifle, 24" round bbl, functional but well worn, ser.#194221B, would like to know DOM. Thanks in advance.

  Your Model 1873 was manufactured in late (November/December) 1885. If you would like the exact date, contact the Cody Firearms Museum (CFM) and purchase a factory letter.

  Bert, thanks for the reply, your info is all I needed. Forgot to mention it's .38-40. Will have to locate dust cover for it somewhere, the only part missing. Cheers RW
