Winchester 73 92 94 Mainspring Tap 9-32 Needed
I need a tap for the mainspring screw hole for the Winchester 73, 92, 94, etc. which is a 9-32. Does anyone know where you can purchase one of these, as well as the other taps for these old Winchester models? Brownells has some but not this one.

Sounds like a very specialized size as there is no mention of #9 thread in my Machinery's Handbook other than tap drill size for 11/64-32 (which is .1406). 0 -
Hmmm I have zillions of taps especially for old guns. I can't find one yet but I'm still looking.
I cant find anything that shows a 9 thread...0 -
Yes they are right on the shelf next to the size 7 taps. So from my 1943 machinery's handbook "The 'coarse thread' machine screw series agrees quite closely with the origional A.S.M.E. 'special' series up to the 1/4-inch size, execpting that the latter has two pitches for certain sizes and Nos. 7 and 9 are omitted in the newer standard."
I have had good luck with my local tacomascrew.com folks for oddball stuff.0
