What is the difference between the Walther PPK and the PPK/S?

PPK is the compact version of the PP the PPK/S is a combination of the two that was made to comply with the 1968 federal size restrictions on importation of handguns . Sort of an in-between size. 0 -
Specifically, the PPK/S has the large PP frame with the smaller PPK slide & barrel.
It was the best we could do when all Walthers were imported. But, with S&W able to produce any model they want in the US, it makes no sense to buy a US-made PPK/S.

Consider it a PPK with a full-sized grip. Takes larger capacity magazines, also.
Yes, it's a compromise, but for large hands....some folks like what the PPK/S has to offer. During recoil, it doesn't wallop your hand like a PPK does. Best, Joe0 -

However, some people prefer the PPK style full wraparound grip panels, eliminating the backstrap recoil "push".
Grip style and the different length of grip are the two main differences between the PPK and PPK/S.0
