The Model 1908, as the name implies, was designed and marketed beginning in 1908. Evolving over a period of decades and many model names, it became the platform for the development of H&R's continuing line of Single Barrel shotguns, culminating in the currently available Topper and Pardner lines. There were MANY changes made to the fire control and latching systems made over the past 102 years to this platform. The original 1908 was never offered with a "rifled" slug barrel. You may be able to find a modern 20 ga barrel that could be modified and fitted to the older frame - but the cost would, IMHO, be prohibitive. Again, IMHO, you'd be better off putting the money into a newly built H&R 20 ga with a NEW slug barrel.
