Commonly referred to as a "bicycle gun". 0 -
Well, the first is, as mentioned, a Bronco type take-down rifle/combo gun. All mentioned applies. The pistol is a Harrington and Richardson 22 revolver called the "YoungAmerican". These were guns for little kids (yeah...it was a different time) to repell nasty dogs whilst on their paper routes etc..., thus the moniker "bicycle gun". These were originated in Belgium under names like Velo-Dog and were normally some small rimfire cartridge. One of the original names for a bicycle was a Velociped (and I'm sure other variations)so a pistol made to repell dogs while ON a bicycle produced the brand name Velo-Dog. None too valuable as they were simply and cheaply made. If in PRIME, near N.I.B. condition, as much as $300. As it is, an interesting part of late 19th century gun making but likely not worth much beyond $125. 0 -
When I was a kid my dad had one. He called it a survival gun cause the bush pilots all carried them in thier supercubs incase they were weathered in and needed to shoot small game until they could fly out. It sucked. The rear sight fell off and we made a new one from a penny. It never seemed to fire the first time so you were allways recocking it to fire again. But it was light and it was fairly accurate. 0 -
