Colt .45 cal solid hard rubber/plastic magazine
Need info on a colt .45 magazine that is solid, made of some type of hard rubber or plastic. It is very heavy - about the same as a fully loaded 7 or 8 rounds. It fits perfectly into my Colt 1911. Has the following markings on the bottom:
19200 ASSY 55009634 MFR 1M291.
Maybe U.S. Army armory tool?? WW II ??
Anybody got a list of WW II Mfr's (1M291)
regards

Your item isn't as old as you're thinking.
The number you're asking about is a CAGE code and that DoD supplier identification system didn't come along until after the war.
1M291 was established for Check-Mate Industries 11 January 1975.0 -
it was to teach the city bred soldier boys to reload under stress when we still used the 45[V] 0 -
This type of thing if made from aluminum or steel and colored can also be used to support the frame of a 1911 type pistols while gunsmith is checkering the grip strap or other frame work. 0 -
