DBuesching......not quite sure what you mean by "navy sight."[?] I think you might be talking about the retrofitted Type 1/2 Vasteras Metallverkin Refined Sight Adapter which includes an elevation wheel. The new sight was installed for both the 156g (T1) and 139 (T2) bullets. Sometimes these sights are referred to as "sniper" sights as they allow for more refined shooting. Typically the new sight was installed on those M96's that were shortened to M38 barrel lengths. Hope this helps[:)]

Are you referring to the Anchor stamped on the base of the sight? THis is not a "Navy" sight, but the Metalverken sight Gary mentioned...nothing to do with Navy issue or type.

Many years back when I had a real cherry Ljungmann 42B, I recall that the surplus dealers were selling original Swede military night sights for them. I have never heard that they also were made for the 38's but it's possible? Because of the Ljungmann association the night sights would be of the W W II era of the early 40's. Way after when the 96's were originally made in the 90's.

Rufe.....I have never seen the night sights on a Swede M96 or M38. I have several M42B's with the night sight kits that you mention. And they are quite nice as are the 42B's. Great shooters![^]I actually picked up four 30rd mags for them twenty or so years ago and that makes them even better!
