S&W makes a performance center M&P 9mm that might fit the bill. You can also get a Glock and have a lighter trigger installed. I'd check their webites for more info than I can offer.

Whatever you decide to do, I'd sugget you go out and shoot them first at a range that allows you to rent guns. That way you might find gun a) has a better trigger, but gun b) you shoot better because of the grip, etc...

The Glock trigger even when lightened SUCKS, I know, I have one.

If you want more horse power with a fine trigger get a 1911 in 45 ACP, one BIG hole is equal to two small ones. Increased capacity is great for the movies but a bit over rated. The 45 ACP in a well built 1911 is very accurate too!

    My .02 YMMV

The question I'd be asking is what modern poly frame semiauto has a trigger that responds well to a trigger job. It is probably just luck if you buy a new semi, of any brand, and get a trigger you really like. Most companies want good/decent trigger settings on their out of the box offering, but not too good. When I bought my S&W M29 classic I, on gunsmith advice, went out and put a couple hundred rounds thru it, cleaned it, and then took it in for barrel porting and a trigger job and have never regretted it. So it seems to me that you really want a semi that you like that also has a trigger that will respond well to a good trigger job.

The target trigger for H&K USP is not bad.

Glock triggers can be lightened the most but they are still kind of mushy with long takeup. S&W Plastic M&P and Springfield XD are similar, they can be improved but are not up to the crisp quality of a good swinging hammer gun.

Try looking at the CZ-75, and the EAA Witness series. Yes, they are DA/SA, but usually the single action pulls are decent.

    Thanks for the input.
I will try the suggested guns.
Looks like the best question I should be asking is what guns respond well to trigger jobs.
I will email some gunsmiths and see what they suggest.
I feel I may get the least biased response from major gunsmiths such as Midway & Brownells.
Can anyone suggest an impartial gunsmith for the question mentioned?
    Thanks again everyone.
