MrM1A1, What you have is a set of Lyman target scope blocks. The "O" and "E" are Lyman's parts numbers. Newcomers refer to these as Unertl type but they were in existance when John Unertl was still working for Fecker. Back to the question, your blocks fit the 1922 Series Springfield .22 Rifles and the 1903 Springfields. You are correct about the location on the rifle. The rear one goes on the receiver ring and the second 7.2" forward of that on the barrel. They are pretty much in demand by those making up fake USMC Sniper 1903's.

I would expect the set to bring $75 to $100 at auction but haven't checked actual sales lately. Being Lyman blocks they would probably sell better than the currently made reproductions. Well, I have heard that new ones are being made but am not sure.

Added after MrM1A1's third post. I don't know that these would have a lot more value than reproduction blocks as I doubt there are collectors of scope blocks. I followed the link you posted and found that the new repro's with a buy it now price of $94.50 has no takers. I think my suggested value of $100.00 is realistic.

Thank you for your input!! As I search on I am finding out more about them, I just can't nail down a price range. Several repros I have seen are listed between $85-$120, so I can only assume that an original Lyman set would be worth more than $100, not to doubt your opinion, just makes sense. Thanks again.

EDIT: I know there aren't gonna be any scope mount collectors drooling over them, but I do think that someone who values original parts on their vintage rifles, whether original or built up, would pay more for an original blued set than they would for a modern repro set, but that's just me.
