Browning Superposed Centennial - condition/value ?
Hello, I have a Browning Centennial Superposed 30-06/20ga and I wanted to get some opinions on its condition and the effect on its value. Any feedback is appreciated.
It has not been fired since it was at the factory in 1978. I have the original box the gun came in, the original display box (As seen in one of the pictures), and the 2 cardboard boxes both of those boxes came in. It has not been cleaned in 10 years so maybe some of the stuff in the pics can be cleaned off but I am not qualified to clean it. Here are the pics:

There is a bit of shadowing on the right side.

at the very end of the barrel at the very top there appears to be a spec of rust less than a millimeter wide tall.

A tiny bit of black at the end.

You might have to save this pic to your pc and zoom in. I have the light directly on what appears to be a minute amount of rust.

I appreciate your opinions.

Would it be possible to post some clearer pictures?
Keep in mind, a "spec" of rust really hurts the value of a gun like that.
I would suggest you wipe down all the metal with a soft cloth and thin oil, like 3 in one.0 -

I'll have someone skilled clean it and then take better pictures. Thank you!0 -
That would be very helpful. In my findings and opinion, a "little" rust on a gun like that would cut the value by 30-50%+-................That's about as close of a guess I can give without much clearer photos.
Hope this helps and good luck!0 -
First off DO NOT let just anyone TRY to clean this Firearm . Rust is Rust But there is a way that will not increase the damage and other methods that will cut the value in half. Kroil is an oil type liquid that is One of the best for removing rust .However even this could do damage to this High Grade wood. What needs to be done is first remove the wood from metal This has to be done with correctly fitted screw drivers, or again it will severely damage the value. Then take all metal pieces and wrap with paper towels now wet the towels with KROIL and then wrap every thing in saran wrap .Let set for 72 hours and then scrub all metal with a BURLAP bag . Anything rougher then this will do damage . Yes 0000 steel wool and oil will look like it is only cleaning but do not try this . In My Opinion even if you have to send it back to browning DONT let anyone put sandpaper or steel wool of any KIND on this Gun. ASK what they intend to do BEFORE they do the job and if you hear the word STEEL WOOL grab the gun and run. 0 -

Thank you very much for the detail. I'm selling it because I'm moving and when I was packing it up I wondered "why do I still have this", not because I'm broke. Since I have time I'll slow play this process and try to make it through without making a mistake. Thanks again!0
