What is your question?
W.D.0 -
This is a continuation of a previous question,I just recently aquired these and quite a few more handgus and rifles,I am very novice in hand gun collecting and was trying to establish some kind of value to them so I can decide whether I want to become a collector or a seller. Thanks for any input.Jim 59beemer 0 -
Sorry, I'm too lazy to look at albums.
If you want help from us, you are going to have to learn to do some things to help us. Here is the procedure for posting photos on this forum:

If you want to find the value of most common guns, you can look at completed auctions using the Smart Search link near the top of the Gunbroker homepage. Then search on the gun, COMPLETED AUCTIONS, EXCLUDE RESERVE PRICE AUCTIONS, & SORT BY HIGHEST NUMBER OF BIDS FIRST.
If you need how to describe a gun, and don't know what it is, put the gun in front of your computer & type the manufacturer & model information THAT IS STAMPED ON THE GUN.

EDIT: The 1911A1 appears to be original finish. The price range quoted sounds right to me. But, where in the range depends upon barrel markings & bore condition. Plus, the grips should be plastic Keystone (star inside), but they look like they are wood.0 -
As far as the Remington goes, things look good indeed. All there and the correct color, an FJA cartouche, correct US govmt property and Model of 1911 A1. Grips are original wartime as far as I can tell...some were plastic, but I have no reason to think these are not original. All the edges look sharp an I see no real high edge wear even. I would rate condition, from what I can see as very high...perhaps %90 or higher. Can't tell about the barrel and innards, but the barrel doesn't show a lot of reciprocation wear for a parked pistol. My Blue Book program is whacked, so check under those condiiton factors in closed auctions. Even in these grim economic times, I guess around $1200? Will post back after checking more photo's and books.
EDIT #1:[/red] [red]Not the greatest Colts expert on here by a stretch, but I know that .38 Super in 4 digit serial range is the more expensive of the two of the Colts 1911's. I also think it may have been refinaished, although I can't swear to that. Lettering looks good but a few of the sharp edges look to be beyond pure polish room activity. Then again, the Supers were a commercial gun for the most part, and certainly would have shown much more polish and fitting than the Military Rand. I concure with the up to $3500 estimate (for the 2 1911's)even with the possible refinish on the Super. So $2000 to $2500 for the Super...$1200 for the Rand. The other two mentioned I totally agree with the price estimate given. Still checking sources on the 1911's...
[red]EDIT #2:[/red] Now that I have spent more time on the Super...I have changed my mind. First picture I saw looked %100 blueing and a little "rainbowy". It was just that one pic, evidently. I now think the pistol is around %80 original finish. I still stick with the $ estimates though, as the lower condition original about equates to the "possible" refinish I thought I saw. I would love to be in your shoes, by the way! IF I were you, I would become a collector real fast by keeping the Colts and selling the others I saw for whatever $ the market could support...you will need money to buy MORE collectibles to go with the ones you would be sgtarting out with! Congrats!
[red]EDIT #3:[/red] Scott: $1k for a 20's vintage Super 38 in that condition? Really...?0 -
The Agent look like it was pocket carried, quite a bit, from the wear on barrel and cylinder. If it's in time and locks up tight? $250-$350, IMHO.
The Mark I also appears to have seen a fair amount of use. They were made in such great quantity over a long period of time, they aren't big buck items. $200-$300, IMHO.
The two Colts are another matter entirely. The Remington is in the correct serial number range, so it appears to be a richeous gun. The .38 Supper is also a gem. Your looking at easy $2500/$3500 for the pair, although the gun business is way in the toilet now along with the rest of the economy. Cream puffs like this will sell quick to collectors who are looking for high quality.

if he does all that, what does he need us for? besides I like to look at other peoples "finds" and threads like this provide info to people who might come across one of these some day.
one thing to remember though, the values of these guns can change from one day to te next. for example;
Christmas is a terrible time of year to sell a gun. people are worried about spendiing their money on chritmas presents. you will see lots of ZERO's next to some really nice guns. If you do as neal suggests, you might come up with figures that are lower than can e expected in a month.
good luck and thanks for letting us look.
Oh by the way
the 38 super should bring around 1000...the remington rand 12-1500
the agent is about 250 in that condition and the ruger somewhere around 175-250 the mark one looks to have excellent target grips and if the thumb lip and checkering are as good as they appear they are worth quite a bit on their own (don't seperate them if you sell it)... hope that helps0
