Remington Model 870 12ga
In the 70's I had, if I remember correctly, a Remington Model 870 12ga that had a special stock installed. The grain of the wood ran vertical instead of horizontal. I can't seem to remember anything about this gun other than I sold it when I was 18 and not so smart. Can anyone tell me more about this gun and what I should be looking for to replace it.

Sounds like it was one of the special early composite or laminate stocks. Since there are over 10 million 870's out there your possibility is endless. Since today you have ever more options you may find it on ebay. 0 -
Was it simular to this one in feather cratch walnut?

Or did it more resemble this one with extensive fiddleback, broken or unbroken? (meaning the fiddleback)

Though a bit exotic for my taste, there is also marblecake walnut.

As wpage mentioned it may have been a laminate, but i would lean more toward a Remington Custom shop gun or restock with high grade wood.
I will edit and add more as I find them0 -
Thanks for all the replies. Nothing yet. It's only been 35 years. I'll know it when I see it. It was a factory stock, pretty dark, if I remember correctly. I didn't realize they made so many! It would have been made sometime in the 70's. I'll know it if / when I see it! 0
