da-tanks wildcat
da-tank's wildcat:
Tank, I was cutting my grass this afternoon and remembered something that must have been deep in my memory. It seems to me that when the Korean war started, the Koreans were short on rifles so they took a bunch of Jap 7.7mm rifles and ran a 30-06 chamber reamer in them so they could use the large amount of 30-06 ammo left over from WW2 in the modified rifles. Although I was in the Army when that war was on, I was never in that theater.
Comments from others are invited, especially if this is incorrect!

Correct sir. There were many. largely type 38's, but also type 99's that were sent to both the nationalist Chinese AND the Koreans, which were rechambered to 30-06. I have that info from one of Patrick Sweeneys books I have on the coffee table. 0 -
This is what I posted in the original thread.

Has Da-tank come back and given any ID marks on the rifle yet? 0
