How do I remove this rear sight?

that pin has nothing to do with the sights mounting, just get it very hot with a torch and whack it with a hammer, it should fall right off, they usually are silver soldered on the melting point is between 1,100 & 1,600 deg. F. depending on the purity of the silver solder. 0 -
I've tried heat, and I tried a punch. The heat didn't work, and the punch bent. Now what? 0 -
Could that reddish stuff be epoxy?????

In my experience no one ever welded the rear sight base assembly on a Mauser series rifle, so IT SHOULD BE SOLDERED as mentioned?! I'm baffled. I know you want to avoid screwing up the barrel by losing the heat temper, but perhaps you could install a heat sink on there and apply a bit more heat? 0 -
I took it to my friend, who is a gunsmith. Will be ready in a week. 0
