After having several scopes fail me I have gone to B&L and have not had a failure on them. Am useing a 3200 and a 4200 on 2 300 win mag Rifles, they have out lasted any other American scope so far. I still have a few Lueoples left and will use them on 243 cal and below, May be they will hold togeather. I have one at the factory being repaired now and this is the second time in 3 Mo. for that one, and it's a X3. Any way now is the time to buy B&L scopes, before they start making junk.

Those two threads will get you started but hopefully members will chime in with additional comments. Large numbers of our members are on the east coast and it is getting late back there right now (although we do have some night owls on the boards...Like yourself) so check back on the thread in the morning.

Most scopes of this type are sold as low end gimmiks and are made by any of the chinese boutique manufactures. For the most part that spells "junk". Save up a bit more money and buy a decent scope such as a Ziess Conquest, Meopta Meostar or Vortek Viper

I've seen and used a few "counter Sniper" brand scopes and normally you get what you pay for in this world. I was plesantly surprised, though not overwhlmed with their performance. I see tons of Nightforce and U.S. Optics, Swarovski, the odd Unertl and a few Military Optics Company (if I got that right...seems about Nightforceish), quite a few Zeiss optics, most above the somewhat lamentable Conquest series, and the very best thing I have seen bar none is a Zeiss Hensoldt 6-24 x 72. Confusing though usable with practice reticule, but what optics! No heat waves, dead precise repeatability (mounted on a friends BAT actioned 6mm BR)and I swear it puts more light out than it takes in. Stunning.

I have a few Millett 30mm scopes, and I put them a rung down from the Counter Sniper big tubes. These are all I can afford at $300 to $400...little ones are expensive and the toys gotta suffer.

The CS's are nice for the money, and I would say are more durable than the Milletts. Add the front focal plane thing and in My opinion you get a nice scope for the money . Go to Midway, look it up under the search and then check the reviews. I'm sure you'll get plenty of BOTH sides; likely more good than bad. Then again, opinions are like A-holes...everybodies got one, and most of 'em stink! Good luck with your decision.

You never mentioned what you wanted to spend. Is money a serious consideration? If you want to spend a grand + like everyone seems to be thinking you do, then fine, go with Burris Black Diamond, Meopta, a Zeiss (still don't like the Conquest series...see too many hopelessly fail the box test)or Nightforce. If you are stuck in the under $750 price range, then I STILL say the CS stuff is not bad at all. I rarely disagree with Sandwarrior and the rest of the guys here, I just really don't get why they are pointing you up the food chain pricewise when you seem to be looking at a lot less money expended on this glass?
