Shotgun shells
I read a forum on centerfire shells shelf life and was just wondering..does the same hold true for shotgun sheels? How long can they be stored and still be safe to shoot. Thanks.

Does anyone know of any websites where you can buy inexpensive, bulk shotgun shells? 0 -
I have 12ga shells in a variety of (fired) lengths 1" (blank load) 1 3/4", 2", 2 9/16" (New empty), 2 11/16 (67.5mm), 2 3/4" (70mm), 3" and 3 1/2".
The good news is that you can safely fire a shorter shell in a longer chamber (but not the other way around)
A folded crimp shell will be shorter than a rolled crimp one of the same length. The best way to "guess" would be to measure the unfired length, than add the amount used on the crimp. IE: to the center on a folded crimp, from the wad to the mouth on a roll crimp.0 -
All my Winchester and Remington 3 inch mag loads in 12 ga. measure 2 9/16" unfired. All the standard 2 3/4" loads measure 2 1/4" unfired. 0
