"ac" is the war time code used by Walther not Mauser. The Waffenamt acceptance stamp, eagle 359, is the one used at the Walther factory.

The Waffenamt on the barrel, eagle 135, is the one used at the Mauser factory.

My take on your pistol is that it has a replacement rework barrel. I have seen barrels that have been shortened in the past by skilled hobbyists and gunsmiths, some of them appear to be quite authentic, but they aren't.

Does Eagle over N not indicate commercial or police use? Even if it is a police barrel, I agree that it has been shortened as I have never seen one that length personnally.

"It has the eagle over 359 proof mark stamped on the slide and frame but the barrel lug is proofed eagle over 135."

The serial numbers on the frame and slide match (5766) but the serial number on the barrel lug doesn't (6631 over "n").

Thats what I meant to say, Rufe...sorry, sometimes I get a trifle inexact on things! Brains not what it used to be.
